No matter how much time goes by
Nothing will change…

I will always see you as you were
On the beach
Your sandals hanging from your fingers
running ahead looking over your shoulder

the waves finishing at your feet
running and splashing
laughing like the little girl
I always wanted to know

Happy as I imagined you always were
Happy as I wished you’d always be
