Today I sit and remember
Really, not so long ago
You used your power over me,
And then you let me go

Sometimes I still feel your grip,
Warmth, a certain glow
You used my body for pleasure
And then you let me go

I know, I should be grateful
It allowed me to grow
You ignited my desire
And then you let me go

I cry out in agony,
My emotions can now flow
I can now express myself
Because you let me go

You'll never see what I've become
My passion, you will never know
I've learned so much about myself
Because you let me go

Sorrow stayed with me
Years went by, extremely slow
I stumbled through the darkness
Because you let me go

I fear that you'll show up again,
And drag me back below
Please don't take me back there,
Please, let me go!

What I wonder most,
In my heart, deep and low
The question still remains,
Why did you let me go?

Tugs at my heart

Your phrase repetition adds depth and strengthens the meaning.

Ending with a question... you have trapped me as those repeated phrases echo through my mind.

Your poetry is improving.
