Click hereSarah squishes her eyes shut
tightening her whole body
fists scrunched to her chest
as we ride the waves
butterflies bubbling in our stomachs
blissfully floating
we slow by the shoreline
and gently rock
the lake’s rhythmic laps moving us
to wrap arms around each other
snuggling in on the boat seat
Sarah says I smell of suntan lotion
then fishy-sweet water
then barbeque sauce
She twirls a cattail
as she points out discoveries
dragonflies
leaping fish
a child’s bucket and shovel
sitting silently on the shore
a blue heron flying low
over frogs sprawled out on lily pads
and a shy turtle peeking up for a chance
gone before I can take a glance
The lake becomes ours in these moments
nostalgic smells of simple days
when lulling serenity rocked us tranquil
cozying us in contentment
Sarah snuggles in closer
and slowly shuts her eyes
the warmth of her body blends into mine
as she drifts off to dreams
surrounded by beauty
blissfully floating
Poetic portrait of a warm summer's day
Carrying remnants of that day's summer heat
Especially appreciated during these cold winter days

thanks for the journey...
This is like a whole photo album condensed into your poem. Moody and beautifully evocotive.
