Poet's note: The following humble set of haiku were written by me while participating in last Month's "first friday celebrations" in my city of Ashland, Oregon. At the agreed upon time in the evening, all of these galleries open their doors and provide free wine and refreshments. The primary purpose of these events is to sell paintings but there's virtually no salesmanship to be seen anywhere, and everyone is made to feel welcome if they're behaving safely.
Also, Southern Oregon University's art department and S.O.U.'s "Scneider Museum of Fine Arts" throw regular art showings, have better refreshments and they're only trying to share, not at this point sell the art in question. I especially recommend the regular event at The Schneider. The free feast is diverse, delicious, and palate-awakening. There's no dress code, but people tend to dress up for these events.

neat neon people
circle the square, gazing bored
through lordly windows

these grand spreads are free:
poor guests wash down quiches with
Keats' "warm south beaker"

far above, doves view
a conquest by coquetry,
suit left with a purse

pain screams off canvas
tinging Ashland's sky the red
shade of meme riots

basking in paint sun
patrons waltz from work to work
sipping Cabernet

the shop-man turns down
Tchaikovsky's spirit's ascent
to bag Croghan's "wolf"
