underfoot, mossy and cool, black stones shine, then hide in leafy shadows

his wanderlust has brought him, aimless, to this otherworld

the queen of these lands, toes with gleaming burgundy gems, lies waiting

however. I would suggest that you lose the "and" here, read it like this---black stones shine then hide.
