You cannot see
Blinded by the mundane
Looking at the photograph I hold
To disguise My soul
Shielding My true nature
My evil
Treachery
The whip clenched in My fist
A brand red hot awaiting
To press against your virgin flesh
The Devil
My true identity
Wrapped in sugar candy
Sweetly presentable
For public consumption
Confectionery for the masses

I control Him
The demon
The One you should fear
I have Him manacled
My slave
There in the shadows
Committed to an asylum
Held in purgatory
Mine to release
Should I choose
Exposing His bared teeth
To tear your flesh
Or nibble
Lovingly
Fooling you once
Fooling Me twice

I see Him every morning
Smiling whimsically
Blade scraping His flesh
Skin clean and polished
I allow Him
Give Him oxygen
Food and drink
Sustenance for body and mind
Let Him exercise
Within limits
Not wishing to frighten
The watching humans

We dress alike
A strange connection through fashion
As if joined more than sibilantly
Esthetically
Sometimes confused
Mistaken for the other
Which is foolish
I see no bodies
Blood soaked and weeping
From His loving embrace
The kiss that always draws
Exsanguinates

So I remain
My Brothers keeper
A jailer
Within the Chateau D'If
A stones throw
From the port
Where lived poor Edmond
Pupil and protagonist
A creation
Of cruelty and fate
Much like We
Masters of despair
