Daughter of Africa
you are my Africa
my mysterious continent

I am your explorer
I will climb your mountains
I will wander your jungles
I will swim your rivers

I am your cartographer
I will map your body
surveying every contour
with my fingertips
spelunking every crevice
with my tongue and lips

(pressed against your flesh
I know my flesh will hear
the ancient pounding drumbeat
that beats in the rhythm
of your yearning heartbeat)

Daughter of Africa
you are my Africa
my mysterious continent

you come from the mother
of all mothers
you come from the mother
of all lovers

your womb
holds the seeds
of nations
