DESERT MANSION
As I lie with you in our desert meadow,
Our bodies loosely bound by the pull of our emotions,
The stars wink shyly down at us,
Afraid to view the ripening of our love.

Coyotes stand guard atop the cliffs,
Their leader, high above, silouetted by the setting moon,
Sings a warning down the canyon
To those who would intrude upon our bliss.

In the darkness scurry the creatures of the night,
Playing once again, their eternal game of life.
Yet we dare not move, fearful that the rising tide of passion
Will spill over and engulf us in such torrents as we cannot control.

I hold your breast, feeling its softness and its hardness,
And beneath the trembling of awakening desire,
Sense the flowing essence of your being.
In your hands, you simply hold my soul.

An owl calls and breaks the silence and the spell.
In the east, Dawn peeks above the rimrock
And blushes at the sight of our embrace.
The morning breeze fans the flames of our desire,
  which must soon blaze forth.

But in these hours our hearts have kissed
And, in their passion, forever intertwined.
For though we must travel to our unknown destiny,
They'll remain here always, locked in an embrace.

ln the stillness and the splendor
 Of our Desert Mansion.
