Lost in the inner landscape,
Fear grips the soul,
But the loneliness…
Growing and the gulf is a void of despair.
Alone in the night wishing for you,
Hoping against hope for the ring of a phone.
The sound of a voice would chase away these hounds on my heels,
Send them howling back into the void.
But it does not come,
They close in and I question,
So much fear,
So much doubt suddenly,
Overwhelming,
I cannot continue to run.
I must stand my ground knowing I cannot win,
But praying I cannot lose.
