The faded silk scarf
wrapped tightly around your head--
your beauty tucked in like a sleepy child
I'm watching your hands
strangely perched on the wheel
like cautious birds
Dark, round shades curiously conceal
your age and eyes
I think you've narrowly escaped
a run-in with your dead lover's wife
hiding behind graveyard trees
You, with your white finger tapping
slightly against the sun.
