leaves cartwheel gleefully across the yard;
chased by mother wind -
with memories older than man can comprehend

russets and gold complete wild leaps into the water;
to float and drift -
understanding the need for their blissful demise

eventually waffling towards quiet solitude;
briefly interred -
only to rise again in yet another form of existence
