I can promise..
fingertips on a keyboard

I cannot promise..
toes to play with yours under the table
feet to stand by your side
legs to run to you in times of trouble

I cannot promise..
knees when the burdens of life are too heavy to stand
arms to help you carry your load
a shoulder to cry on in your time of need

I cannot promise..
warmth when the nights are cold
soft words to calm your fears
arms to hold you as you sleep

I can promise..
fingertips on a keyboard

I cannot promise..
eyes to behold your beauty
a nose to inhale your scent
ears to hear your voice

I cannot promise..
lips to softly kiss you
a tongue to taste your love
teeth to nibble on your ear

I can promise..
fingertips on a keyboard
nothing more nor less

Fingertips to type..
'Hello' at the beginning
'Good Bye' at the end

Fingertips to type..
'Congrats' at your achievements
'Do better' when you fail

Fingertips..
To tell the truth because I never lie

But I can sure write fiction, there the limit is the sky

I can't be more than who I am
I will be nothing less

So if you want to talk with me
I'll send you my address

My fingertips will touch your mind
And I'll let you touch mine

I will not meet for coffee
Don't ask to share some wine

Simple words upon a screen
That's all I'll ever be

So if that is what you want
please stay and talk with me

- Jake
