She lured me with impassioned wit
Snared me with blue eyes
Took me gently into her world
Where sheltered she now lies

Her laughter on the phone at night
And sometimes during the day
Made me smile and lit the flame
Of “wanting” once again

I did not look nor did not seek
This lady that I found
Her love I have, but have not now
Her trust, I have let down

I loved you then, I love you now
I’ll love you in the morrow
But love that is not given back,
Unrequited, causes sorrow.
