For my wife,

Driving rain, howling gales, I scramble up an endless slope
My foot slips, my shin strikes rock, I begin to loose all hope
I’m tired, so very tired, damp clothes plastered to my skin
Adrenalin flows, anger builds, determination begins to set in

I tread into uncharted waters, so desperately cold, I question my fate
Striding ever deeper, a current pulls; I struggle to widen my gate
Water thunders, its spray wets my face, unease starts to brew
What’s that up ahead? A brilliant beacon of light, of course held aloft by you

I shall not tire, I shall not flinch, I shall live to see another day
