GUESS THAT'S HOW IT WAS

Wind and weather cats
to the ball of the house,

claw-fractured
shutters

stitched, bobbined and skeined -- CLACK!

shiver-sing and
moan house, moan
and sing, her

skin-shivered lace, the
electric
blanket, the heat, her
sleep-shaggy-curled face grimace
Windego-noise, her
face in sleep is mopsy, open
lips, bared
teeth and

one hand

one hand like an idle thing, fingers
all collapsed
on her breast, power
of her indrawn gasp

sucks breath from my lungs
