I saw a sad little old lady
As she sat beside a lake,
She sat there so very quiet
Thinking of her life to take.
All the happiness she’d known
Seemed to have been taken away,
And now to end her loneliness
Is what she planned on this day.
Yes, this sad little old lady
Was now old and frail,
Her thinking her beauty had faded
Leaving her wrinkled and pale.
Even all her pleasant memories
Of the happy times in the past,
No longer remained at her age
Yes, they just do not last.
Her children had all grown up
Living lives all their own,
They no longer cared to visit
There was no love to be shown.
And just last month of cancer
Her husband and mate had died,
Yes, she remembered that day
As she just cried and cried.
They shared everything together
For fifty happy some years,
But now she was alone
Left with only her sadness and tears.
Now all she could think of
Was to join him again,
Even if that meant
To commit this final sin.
But then it was as if God
Had heard her every word,
Yes, I believe that day
All her prayers were heard.
For she suddenly felt tired
And soon drifted off to sleep,
It was as if God came down
And claimed her soul to keep.
Yes, God answered her prayers
Stopping what she had planned,
For it’s now in heaven that she walks
With her soul mate hand in hand…BWL
