Hide and Seek

How can I expect you to love me
When I don't love myself
And how can I demand your respect
If I wont even show you who I am

My Life is a pretence
Does that even make sense
Hide and seek shouldn't be
A 1-player game
My life is a pretence
That just doesn't make sense
The only thing that's really me
Is my name

You said you would always be by my side
Well I must have looked in the wrong direction
'Cause when I needed you the most
You didn't give me…any protection

My life is a pretence
Does that even make sense
Hide and seek shouldn't be
A 1-player game
My life is a pretence
That just doesn't make sense
The only thing that's really me
Is my name

I needed saving, couldn't you tell?
Someone to pick me up after I feel
I'm shouting out
That I'm left with doubt
So I'm crying out
And asking…who am I?

My life's still a pretence
Shouldn't this make sense
Hide and seek shouldn't be
A 1-player game
My life's still a pretence
That just doesn't make sense
The only thing that's still me
Is my name
