I sleep 10,000 years each night I close my eyes
On waking I shiver, the nightmare yet lingers.
The horrors that lie in a dream's thin disguise,
I sleep 10,000 years each night I close my eyes
In spite of the wisdom shown by the wise
I sweat and I tremble and gnaw on my fingers.
I sleep 10,000 years each night I close my eyes
On waking I shiver, the nightmare yet lingers.

Thanks to a link

I discovered this. So little time so much poetry. This was well worth revisiting - I remember that challenge with a shudder but you nail it perfectly.

At Night

Night is a good time for poetry. This is a thoughtful poem.

the lines...

"I sleep 10,000 years each night I close my eyes

In spite of the wisdom shown by the wise" remind me of one of my own interpretations. Thanks for taking part :)
