this morning, on the levee, looking
on wet woods and fields of rice stubble
where big men were shooting little ducks,
we listened to the booms of shotguns
and mocking quacks offered in response.
dawn's red sun reflected in your eyes,
bitter cold colored your pale cheeks,
steam wisped from the corners of your mouth.
we poured some whisky in our coffee -
i wanted to taste it from your lips,
and feel their vibrations as you spoke.
i wanted to be wrapped in your hair,
and i wanted our small tits to touch.
we drove into memphis this evening,
ate ribs and listened to some music,
you with a lawyer from little rock,
and i'm with a guy from dallas, but,
our eyes keep playing on each other
and the men are getting sloppy drunk.
i'm thinking that we leave them snoring
and slip away for our own bird hunt

Lovely

I love the depth of description in a few words and the beautiful tying together of the metaphor. A tremendous evocation of growing desire.
