i am hiding in the alley
of my soul as i peek at
the spotlight sweeping
across a salted sky

so ducking down i dive
low to avoid the glow
because i know if i go
into that searching spotlight

i will run the risk of
overexposure and all my
pictures might turn into
just so much white light...

so this is where you can find me
hiding away in an alley and submerged
in the shadow of my fundamental nature.

I got a threatening email that said,

"i am hiding in the alley." Was that you sneaking around out back?

This may be one of my favorite porter poems.

The dark contrasts with light

and each illuminates the other

Another....

...of the very fine free rambles that seem to be all over the place today. Great stuff!
