Who do I kid, I’m no poet
Never said it, never wrote it
Though I’ve tried a thousand times
It seems I screw up all the rhymes.

Talk of meter, talk of prose
Geez, that stuff just turns my nose
And what’s this rage on imagery
Got anything to do with poetry?

Oh, I’ve been to the poets board
It seems there all in disaccord
And once attended a poetry reading
To be dismissed for ‘billygoat bleeting’

(As if you could imagine that!
One could surmise from this exercise
I was told I don’t have the voice for it.)

Iambic Tetrameter -
Sounds like something from St. Peter
And Iambic Dimeter
Isn’t far from it either!

Alliteration, Accentual Verse
That is where I am the worse
But battered butter bakes bread better
Well, it certainly does make me shut ter.

Free Verse,
Short line
Or lines made to be utterly long, called enjambed
Looks kinda weak, but
comes out Strong.

I guess I’ll stick to fairy Tales
Or read a journal about the Whales
Ballads, Epigrams, Haiku and such
I really don’t have the proper touch.
