The lake rings in my ears
Me, without a drop of water
Still I can hear its sloshing
Murmuring me to sleep

beneath the murky water
he calls to me as she
called to him so many nights
adrift to sleep by lakeside

and he, in her possession
shines me a lethal smile
where fish dance in darkness
and love lingers in muddy joy

and lady lake has claimed him
in a fury of wind and
raining a sad long
bagpipe dream song

he loves her
through my hatred
my tears mere drops
to her embrace

The lake rings in my ears
Me, without a drop of water
Still I can hear its sloshing
It beckons me to sleep
