the chilly scarf of the autumn night
    hugs my neck and
    sends shivers down my spine

    the slum darkness
punctuated by the distant street lights
    claims the orchard

back in my apartment i get
    in touch via internet
with my old schoolmates so distant

!

This is good.It communicates the "feel" of the situation rather than just sight and sound. The economy of words allows the reader to imagine the broader picture.
