It was a hot dry land they traveled through,
The pioneers of the Western land.
They had to deal with indians and storms,
And passing through rivers with quicksand!
Many left Saint Louis with dreams and hopes,
Dreaming of a better way of life.
Many lost everything along that trail,
Cause the trail was pure struggle and strife!
Through all the terrors of the wilderness,
They pressed on with bravery and hope.
The ones who made it through and settled down,
Passed out first hand justice with a rope!
Along with pioneers came the outlaws,
The bane of all honest citizens.
The cattle or horse thief was hung real high,
A quick justice for those denizens!
Law was needed in that wild woolly land,
Invaded by outlaws and half-casts.
The army fought and moved the indians,
Onto the reservations at last!
The owlhoots riding down the outlaw's trail,
Were becoming a thing of the past.
The people grew tired of their Banditry,
And got "Law and Order" started at last!
From the pioneers to the present day,
Have always showed determination.
The West was settled by Brave-hearted souls,
And that passed to this generation!!
