A young man looked skyward one day and asked:
"Why must there be death? Can't you stop it?"

"Would you have no more children brought into the world?" a disembodied voice replied.

"That is not what I asked," the young man said.

"The world would be too full, there would be too much suffering," the voice replied again.

"So you need death and birth just like you need day and night," the young man said.

"Basically," the voice replied.

"I have one more question. Who are you?" The young man asked boldly.

"I am the essence of evil, but at least I'm not obnoxious about it."
