Come - dance, Marianne, spin, Marianne,
     Let yourself go
To the ring of the music
     And sway to and fro.

Come, waltz, Marianne, float, Marianne,
        No one may know
If we meet again, my sweet;
        Waiting is slow.

Come, jump, Marianne, twist, Marianne,
        Stop feeling low -
And join all the twirling
        Fair maids in a row.

Come, rock, Marianne,  reel, Marianne,
        Frantic, although
You're crying inside, dear -
        It's fatal to show.

Come, stumble and trip, Marianne,
        Outside the crow
Would make for your eyes, my dear -
        Stop crying so.
