MATCH

The racket slips between
sweaty fingers
as he tries to grip
it harder, feeling
the sun and
the sweat and
the cheering of
the opponent's fans.
(They're all the opponent's fans)
As the ball returns
to his court,
he knows he
could get them to
cheer for him—at
the price of not returning
the ball.
The racket slips
between sweaty fingers
and he hears
the first fan
hiss.
When he misses the ball
he's not sure if it was his
accident
or if
he wanted to.

In perspective

this is a lot cleaner than some of the others, good direction to go in. I'll leave it at that. (5)
