“Now It's 1984”
Jack Green

I woke up this morning the day is gray
But it’s the same as any other day
Down some gin, there’s plenty to go around
The cameras are watching, I feel it now
I’ve been writing and learned I cannot think
I still scratch out words and put them in ink

The news is all wrong I must make a change
illegal words they must be rearranged
The battle we lost in moments before
Is now a success we’re winning the war
Off to the rally where Big Brother speaks
I’m jumping and cheering, inside I seethe

Down with Big Brother, he won’t let me say
Until the thought police take me away

When I see Brother my heart fills with joy
Emotions clouding the need to destroy
I look with disgust, the smiles on the rest
I say the same words for One I detest
How do I feel as I fall for the game?
I find myself cheering him just the same

Down with Big Brother, the need to resist
If He can catch me, I’ll never be missed

It’s double plus ungood, my sorrow
How many words will I know tomorrow?
It’s so plus ungood that I feel this way
How many lives will I erase today?
Now it’s 1984, it feels just like 1984
