Sitting in my deer stand-really need a nap;
Afraid to doze off-boy, what a sap!
Anxiously hoping for some nice backstrap;

                   Waiting…Waiting.

Been here for hours-gotta back ache
Allof the sudden-a big limb breaks.
I get so excited, my hands start to shake!

                   Waiting…Waiting.

*@!!*, never mind-false alarm,
fat,grey (near death) squirrel with lots of charm!
Slowly, I lower my firearm.

                   Waiting…Waiting.

Times running out-still no luck,
Haven’t caught sight of a doe or a buck.
Been staring at this patch of woods, till I’m dumbstruck.

                   Waiting…Waiting.

Season’s almost over-very little hope,
Mighty disappointed, but I intend to cope.
Regret spending money on a brand-new scope.

                   Waiting…Waiting.

Oh, dear-still no deer.
Well friends, never fear.
I’ll be out here, again next year!

                   Waiting…Waiting.
