as I cut through the parking lot
the unwashed railroad bum hits me up
for some spare change

im down on my luck
he tells me and just up from louisiana
but he swears dallas is even hotter

i agree as he swipes free
the soot and grime of
four days of whiskers and whiskey

and when I give him five bucks
he grins through rotten forgotten teeth
whistles out loud and howls

why thisll get me all the way
to oklahoma city
and then he invites me to come along

just before he leaves
he blesses me like a priest
while I idly finger whats left

two twenties, a ten and another five…
just imagine how far we could get
on all of that.
