Pushing onwards, however futilly,
like a Great Lakes freighter forcing its
way through Spring ice too thick
to be traversed.

Wedged in deep, 18 inches of cold,
hard whiteness extending to the
horizon in all directions; snow-blind
is still the same as pride, and can
kill as quickly.

The definition of futility: trapped 25
km from where I started (supposed
to be 300 North) waiting for an
icebreaker to free the way as the
competition lines up behind.

Paul R. Tregurtha, largest ship to
ply the lakes, is also the most
vulnerable - guided to the Soo locks
by a pilot from Michigan after the
ice had punctered her hull.

My hull rupturing, filling with the icy
cold lake water, dragging me down
to a cold, dark death - lost to the
world until Summer.

Nice Read!

I would have probably did the lines breaks slightly differently, but I especially liked your lines:

"snow-blind is still the same as pride, and can

kill as quickly."

Thanks for the read!
