Optical Ilusion

It's an optical illusion
That'll leave you belly up
Staring at the stars
Dazed and confused
It's an optical illusion
Inside a promised tomorrow
That'll give you false hope
Full of doubt and sorrow
It's an optical illusion
That'll smash your delusions
Spread mass confusion
Within the matter of your mind
It's an optical illusion
That'll tweak your vision
Through a kaleidascope
Of mangled emotions
It's an optical illusion
Distorting itself
Inside a hall of mirrors
Reflecting joy off of pain
It's an optical illusion
That'll give you pleasure
Then steal it away
Like night does to day
It's an optical illusion
That'll feed your appetite for affection
Then leave you hungry for more
After it exits out your back door
It's an optical illlusion
That'll leave you on the corner of discontent
Begging for retribution
With hands scorned by dissatisfaction
It's an optical illusion
That'll love you and leave you
Broke and dishheartened
With no change to spare

dcpoet44about 19 years agoas i can relate to it personally. it has great movement and feel to it. i'm inclined to think that if you keep the first and last *it's an optical illusion* even with using the stanzas it will still have the same effect. that is my take and clearly a take it or leave it option. i still love it.

My Erotic Taleabout 19 years agoI find illusions amazing, first we fool ourselves by feeling safer in the day light which is facing the sun not the vast black space that truely is but blue sky which is reflective light but we take the blue for granite on this planet spinning 66,000 miles an hour through space, and seems like we're sitting still ...well I could go on about illusions <grin> loved your poem ...inspirational
