I know pain well..
and have for many years.
It has a story I don't often tell,
for it takes me to tears.
Pain cuts into me..
it's sharp and cuts deep..
where joy used to be,
fears tend to creep.
Everybody's been there,
at sometime in their life.
Most are aware..
of pain's sharp knife.
Loss of love brings with it pain,
an eon it takes to heal.
It happens..now and again,
Happiness, it will steal.
You cannot guard aginst pain,
if it means to come your way.
You can only try in vain,
and hope it doesn't stay.
