Parting with His Lady

In my mind I see a picture;
Over my grave stands a young sir,
A tear is in his eye and another on his cheek.
His knees seem to have gone weak.
He falls back,
Away from the other mourners, wearing black,
But as they step away,
He comes forward and begins to say;
“Your life was a sad case,
Nothing about you was ever chaste,
But still I loved you,
I loved you no matter what you would do,
But you are gone,
And I know I must go on,
To live a new life,
Without the woman I knew as a wife.”
With that he turned and walked away,
And all I could do was lay.
I seemed to be caught,
for I was dead, and he was not.
