So many things could be
Thrown away, inventoried in an ice storm
By candle light, favorite flashlight
Knocked against while looking for
That weather radio, that phone
With the thick black cord

Where is the entertainment?
Disappeared in the thick black night
Hum a dancing tune
Or just bed
Extra quilts
Knee knocking becomes us
In this eve of diet
Reflections and quiet

those peacock feather earrings
are a nice touch,
as is your giggle
now hush
