I threw temptation away this morning
With yesterday's newspaper
And an old receipt
     Victoria's Secret
     Lace camisole (Champagne)...$39.99

Do you remember that night?
I didn't know I was dressing for you,
jeans and a black velvet blazer,
lace peeking out to pique some interest

Sketches on Broadway, open 'til 3,
Sapphire eyes as deep as ever, leaning
      against the bar
      after all these years.
We laughed and danced
through last call and last song -
      N-Trance's "Set You Free" -
I should have seen the irony.

But I let you slip your number in my pocket
And promised I'd keep in touch
As your lips found mine and your hands explored
      skin under satin under velvet.

After eighteen years, you'd think
I'd learn.  A leopard never changes.
He just gets more clever about pursuit.
