of many i meet and
set up over the years...
already a bloat at
barely thirty-eight
but an old pro who
knows how to walk
(no sudden motions)
think before speaking
sit like a deacon and
never stay too long...
a highland park boy
privileged in fate
but a failure in life.
face flushed and beat
he will take his seat
to nurse a rum coke...
and when i clean up
and empty his tray
waits for me to make
the mistake and say
can i get you a drink
as he pretends to think
shrug shoulders stare
as if he doesnt care
and then always say
well i cant really stay
but if youre buying...okay.

Maria2394about 20 years agoof characters could probably learn so much about themselves if they could only read your poetry!!
maybe you should print up some small books and leave them on the bar..., wouldnt it be cute to watch one of them reading and then realize they are reading about themselves?? ;)
