***~***

Heavily invested in a hollow affair,
an icy breeze slips through the
cracks of dysfunctional windows,
sliding into mindless crevasses.
Shrieks and shrills, whistles and whines
create forced-placed insurance
that add to hefty expense
draining the emotional joint account;
deferred maintenance mounting.
Financed to heaven’s hilt,
no room for home improvement,
an overdue apology accrues daily
interest, rolling thirty once more.
