Contained in only one body
Seams split, cups overflow
Yet misery is confined
My heart it aches to be free
Sadness spills from teary eyes

Sob till sockets run dry
Heaving sides, racked sobs
Misery loves company
But we cry on our own
Tissue wads litter the floor

Empty bed, dereft of warmth
Morning coffee; one cup
Single stetting at brunch table
A new toothbrush flies solo
Dinner reservations for one

Where it once was us, now I
Two bikes, only one rider
Alone at night on a seat for two
The love swing stays empty
Salty tears, here comes the tide
