EDELTRAUD 2: THE BITCH => DRIFTING AWAY

HILLSIDE
JANUARY 2012

SO NATURAL

March was bringing
the first green broad beans
necessary companions to my raki,
and June the first female tourists,
audience to my guitar,
but I didn’t forget you.

Neither in October with the pomegranates,
nor in August
with the fishing expeditions
round Donkey Island,
never once,
in any of my acts
did I forget you.
You forgot me,
and all this life.

As the years accumulate,
it will seem increasingly
as a fairy tale,
something that happened
to other people,
in other times and places.
You're still too young
and it's so natural…
to forget.
