across the oceans there are those
that serve in many ways.
upi dpmt see them, cannot feel them
but their lives are risked and lost
just for you.
an oath was taken, a honor given
to serve this great country, our land.
to protect us , serve us.
no fear , no questions asked
they just do this
day upon day, month by month, year and year
they serve and protect you/
they are human, they feel, have thoughts
just like you and i.
although their eyes are steel
behind they hold back all they see
sometimes at the brink of breaking
some come back to their place of rest
and think of all those back home
who love them, this keeps them going.
writing words of love and all the inhumanity
words of pain and hell.
so many i miss you's. i love you's. i want you's
i need you's; flow from the ink.
friends, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers
are the soldiers we have across the oceans
remember what they do for us
someday they want to come home to you.
in one blast, some will be taken to heaven above
so much pain and confusion is about
in this blast so many gone
chaos is there
where is my friend that was beside me?
is he dead or alive?
or grasping onto dear life
they cannot cry so they shake
so mad at what was done to them
self control is near lost
and i boiling inside.
questions are asked
how could they do this?
why did my friend have to die?
for what reasons did this have to happen to me?
i was so close to going home to my wife , my husband, my family.
now i sit here in my hospital bed, unable to move
like i once did. all i can do is stare at the wall as the clock ticks.
in hopes that i can just go home
away from this hell that continuously flashes
in my mind , yet is behind me.
that i cant shut off until i am released
those that died will be honored on a wall
those that survived will have to deal
with lifes expectations up ahead
remember all those that lost and risked their lives
so freedom reigns in the great u.s.a.
