Still I recall her touch that night
Like distant star burning bright
Upon my shoulder her hand did rest

Deep within my heart did stir
the entire world became a blur
as it drummed within my chest

And then she briefly spoke
angels song amid noise and smoke
turned and she was gone

I sat, if but for a while,
wondered how she did beguile
with but a touch hereon

And I returned unto my chair
sat for hours only to stare
at her sitting just feet away

Yet never did my courage rise
and to this day I despise
the fear I had to say hello.

I still recall her haunting glance
and I long for another chance
What could have been I’ll never know.

Still there is this hollow spot
and I feel she somehow ought
to be the one within it

But for now only a dream she’ll be
for I never had the courage you see
to be the one to begin it.
