Summer Seaside Begins

blue green swells break
to white foam surrendered
in sine waves washed on sand
where scatterlings of clam
shells rest gray striated

laughter mingles fading
against coaster screams
clacking ride boldly ride
or spin your chances hit
and pick a stuffed dog a cd

tinny motown floats above
the heat you know I was
made to love her tan bikini
slicked back coconut smooth
in banana lotion and smoke

risen from cheesesteak stands
pizza bubbling sausage peppers
the air with sizzle custard
drizzles I hear a symphony
of scrape tripping down wood

flip flopping hours dropping
sun past the horizon drooping
families shake off the day
in rolls of quiet nightfall
blanketing us under the boardwalk

where brine scented darkness
meets french fries dripped
in ketchup kisses moonlight sighs
and gull song soothes the burn
of hot skin sealed in summertime
