"Parting is all we know Of Heaven, and all we need of Hell." ~ Emily Dickinson

I dreamt of cars in fast lanes.

Blurs of lighted hue careering,
slashing the night sky apart.

I saw your face.

Illumined by each streetlamp,
the steering wheel veered sharply left.

I wanted to run into you.

Over you, around you, through you,
I would toss you into the air.

You would be a broken ball, deflated.

I wanted to flatten your curves
into the expressway islands like grime.

I raced as a red Diablo.

Screaming tyres burnt into you,
tracks and skidrows crisscrossing black plaid.

I could see no more.

The wipers went dead in the rain.
I lost focus of your face.

I lost you somewhere along my last exit.
