This is my Christmas entry for this year, a little piece of satire brought about from seeing all the commercialism going on and that always seems to go on this time of year that just ruins it for all of us who wish it could be like the movies 'Miracle on 34th St.' or 'It's a Wonderful Life.'

****

One night I caught Santa
Diving down our chimney place.
I tried to tell him of the fire
So's he wouldn't burn his face.
Alas, alack, I was too late,
The flames, their dastardly deed was done!
Yet Santa, finished with his fall,
Arose from the ashes, exclaiming,
"Ho, ho, wasn't that fun?"
Upon which I said to him,
"Because I didn't get what I asked for, fat man,
"Your fun has just begun!"
Whereupon I shot him down with my
Forty-five caliber hand-gun.
"Thanks," He said. "You've made me day,
"But you've also made me dead."

This is what Christmas means to me:
Giving, that is, instead of receiving.
And anytime I can give someone
A ride to another world much better than this,
I'll do it...
And enjoy the hell out of it!
