The phone rang, the message was grief
Someone you love, is leaving
Going to the war, across the seas
How my heart breaks, bleeding for you

I understand pain, I've been there before
I've seen sorrow, horror and remorse
But you in tears
It was much worse

All I want, is to be
A shoulder for your tears,
An ear for your fears
A hand comforting, in the night
A shelter, a comfort, burning bright

I have faith, in your friend
I trust, he will be fine
I worry for you, because I care
Keep your chin up, do not despair
If I could, I would be there

Do you remember, those words you wrote?
So long ago, and sent to me?
"I want to take your pain, and keep you safe"
So much they strengthened me
In response, I offer my own
I want to be there, and hold you tight
I want to be your umbrella, keep you dry
I want to be your tomato, just because it will make you laugh
Most of all, I want to be Everything
You are to me
