what is up with some girls?

they fall for the wrong
ones
that they should
just befriend
and only befriend
the ones they should love

it takes them
a lifetime
to realize this
and wonder
at that time
when you had the chance to make right
and didn't take it
what were you thinking of?

Just to be
cool
or in the in-crowd
or with someone who was hot

looks fade
but you didn't know that
and now
they are far from it
definitely not

they treated you wrong
and abused you
each chance that they could take

and you went to your friend
to make yourself feel better
were you so blind to see
the truth for goodness sake?

It's time you
open your eyes
fix your issues
and go ahead
to take that chance

on something different
in life
to make you happy
in a universal stance

it might be
too late for the author
to get his chance
with you
because you don't feel
that way about him
despite the fact
the author still feels for you

but maybe he can
help you see
what you've been missing all this time

a chance to find your inner peace
and let your inner beauty
and soul shine

A nice

rant... I think with a little pruning and a bit different phrasing this would dress up nicely. Work on showing what you mean, not just telling.
