“What’s wrong?” he asks again.
After he breaks my heart yet another time.
I just steer at the sky in despair.
So many things rush through my mind in unison,
Too many things to voice.
Then the only answer I can give appears.
A river tears gush from my eyes,
Each drop a tale of hurt and resentment.
As anger wells up inside the tears subside like the turning tide,
So I dry my eyes my gaze fixed on the moon;
And I try to vanquish my despair in those receding tears.
I think maybe the only thing that is wrong is me.
I give myself a little pep-talk.
I’ll try even harder this time,
I’ll give him even more.
But I only loose a little more of myself,
And I know that one night the moon will return a high tide of tears to the banks of my heart.
