Today
When I walked into
the Korean store
down the street
Where I am an
anomaly
White-skinned and
Green-eyed

I heard them snickering -
I was back
with my walletfull of change
nickels and dimes galore
Enough for a pack of cigs
or a diet soda
(Hopefully)
So I strolled through the aisles,
chatted with the black folk -
Always friendly
Surprised
to see me,
Grabbed some juice -
put it back
Picked a different kind,
Stopped
to check out
a box of cat food
"Alley Cat"
how rich,
Then I
plopped down my
purchases on the counter
$2.80 - he stared me down
And I
handed him a
Crisp Twen-ty
Ha-Ha Bitches
I just got paid!

Best to think on this with the mindset of a twentysomething just starting an independant life, living from paycheck to paycheck on nickels, dimes, and quarters.
