The sky turns dark upon my face
And I can knock no more
My heart is numb and tired
My knuckles bled and raw

Come in come in come in you cried
Then slam the great door closed
So many more have trod this path
My empathy for those

Were they happy and content?
Till they stumbled over you
A word or no you make or break
Believing that your true

Next time you see a rainbow
Or feel the early morning dew
Remember the woman with big green eyes
Who once looked up to you

Till you cut her to the marrow
You will no longer make her cry
She has closed this door behind her
And whispers her goodbye

You will never feel the passion
Of the girl with the titian hair
She’ll no longer run the gauntlet
With you pompous in your lair
